Mets honor legend Willie Mays by retiring his number 24
The New York Mets retired the number of Hall of Fame player Willie Mays during their Old Timers' Day celebration Saturday. 
No one will ever again wear the number for the Mets, where Mays played in 1972 and 1973, making an appearance with. the team in the 1973 World Series. 
Old Timer's Day saw the return of many beloved former players, including key players from the 1986 World Series championship. 
The Miracles went on to beat the Amazins 8-1.
