Mets fans anxiously awaited Monday's first pitch at Citi Field, the brand new home of their favorite team.
The Mets are hosting the San Diego Padres. Hall of Famer Tom Seaver threw out the first pitch to former Mets catcher Mike Piazza. It is the first time in 45 years that fans will watch their favorite team play in a new ballpark.
"I love opening day," fan John McCann says. "I like to get my refrigerator magnet with the schedule on it and just get a hotdog and a soda and just watch the game."
Pitcher Mike Pelfrey takes the mound, looking for his second win this season as he looks to help the team get back over .500.
