A memorial was unveiled in Dix Hills Sunday to honor veterans and soldiers overseas.

Boy Scouts and veterans came together at the Dix Hills Jewish Center to unveil a memorial dedicated to soldiers from both the United States and Israel.

The project was spearheaded by 16-year-old Eagle Scout Joshua Brodsky, of Commack, and features an American flag and an Israeli flag, with an arch symbolically joining the two nations.

Brodsky says the memorial is dedicated to all veterans from the two countries, including his great-grandfather and both of his grandfathers.

The American flag that is there was flown over the United States Capitol Building on Sept. 11 of this year.

Rep. Tom Suozzi and state Assemblyman Steve Stern also joined in the celebration, recognizing Brodsky for his patriotism.

 Following the ceremony, the Jewish Center held a celebratory breakfast honoring the veterans for their service.
