A 4-year-old boy died Monday morning after he was found unresponsive in an apartment the day before.

Police say Juan Sanchez's mother called them to 976 Tinton Ave. on Sunday afternoon, where they found the child unconscious. Sanchez was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and died the next morning.

Police believe Sanchez drank something before his mother found him unresponsive. No alcohol was found in his bloodstream and the medical examiner is investigating.

No criminality is suspected in the boy's death.
