One Suffolk County Memorial Day parade has been canceled this weekend.

Organizers of the Medford parade announced the difficult decision due to lack of group interest and participation.

The annual march was set to start at Tremont Ave. and Route 112 to honor and remember the men and women who died serving our country.

Groups were invited to reach out to the Medford Fire Department to join the event.

The planned Memorial Day service will still take place on Monday at 11 a.m., in the park across the street from the firehouse.

“We invite all community members to join us as we come together to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Your support and attendance mean so much as we continue this important tradition,” the department said in a social media post.
