Maxwell Sherman pleads not guilty to murder, sexual abuse charges in death of Lauren Daverin
The Long Beach man accused of strangling a newlywed woman in Rockville Centre is now also charged with sex abuse.
Maxwell Sherman, 18, is accused of murdering 18-year-old Lauren Daverin, of Lynbrook. Daverin was found half-naked in a pool of blood on a footbridge in Rockville Centre.
Sherman has pleaded not guilty to murder and sexual abuse charges. His lawyer says he is innocent and that all evidence in the case is highly circumstantial.
The Daverin family is petitioning to have lights and cameras put up on the footbridge to prevent future tragedies.
