A Mastic woman claims she awakened Sunday to a struggle and found her boyfriend fatally stabbed.
Dana Duford told Suffolk investigators that an intruder punched her in the face after she woke up and that her boyfriend was in a pool of blood. She said the attack occurred around 8:30 a.m. while her toddler was in another room.
According to Duford, the man fled the home. However, police are not yet labeling the incident a home invasion. Investigators said they found no drugs or weapons at the Winters Drive home.
Neighbors are shocked. "I've been here 15 years and it's a good neighborhood," says Gary Davis.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the crime to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
