It's March, and St. Patrick's Day is almost here!
It's time to break out the hair clippers for the annual
St. Baldrick's events, and one is set for tonight in the Massapequa School District.
News 12's Danielle Campbell was at Berner Middle School in Massapequa with a preview of the event fighting childhood cancer.
As 9-year-old Harry got ready to shave his head, he said the event’s purpose hits close to home.
“My friend Thomas had cancer two times in a row, so I'm fighting cancer just for him,” he said.
Harry and many other young people were excited to show their support for the cause.
“I am taking part in this because there was a girl in my school who had cancer that could not be cured, so I think this is a great thing we are all getting together and doing this,” said Martina Battaglia.
“It sends a message to the community that we should fight this, and everybody should support this,” said Ty Miranda.
The Massapequa Chapter of Saint Baldricks has raised over $18,000 so far.
