A restaurant in Massapequa Park was shut down Wednesday after authorities say they found an illegal propane tank in the kitchen, and a roach infestation.

Inspectors went to Il Vizio on Merrick Road following a report of an unknown odor. According to the Nassau County Fire Marshal, at least four appliances in the kitchen were modified to run on propane. Officials say a 20-pound propane tank was found connected to one of the appliances, a serious fire safety hazard.

The owner of the business says the propane tank was removed, and he’s working to get the building up to code.

The business owner was issued an appearance ticket.

He was also arrested by the United States Department of Labor in February for allegedly failing to comply with one of their investigations.
