Softball and baseball little league teams in the Massapequa area have been giving it their all in national play.

The girls advancing to the next round of their World Series and the boys are one win away from entering the World Series.

The two teams are inching closer and closer to history-making championships.  The Massapequa International Little League Softball team from Massapequa Park has advanced to the next round of their World Series — while the Massapequa Coast Little League baseball team is one win away from entering the World Series tournament.

Fans gathered at Jackie Reilly's Bar and Grill in Bethpage Monday night to watch the softball team beat New England 6-5.

The team will play against the Latin America Region in North Carolina on Thursday.

The Massapequa Coast advances to the Metro Region Championship game Friday. They beat New Jersey 10-1.

Residents say they are proud of these kids and their wins.
