A Massapequa family is fuming Thursday over mishandled evidence that forced prosecutors to cut a deal with the man that killed their daughter.

Police say Anthony Raffio was driving drunk at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour when he crashed on the Wantagh Parkway and killed Ginamarie Dell'Anno and Matthew Adduci in 2004. However, in court it was determined that state troopers mishandled the blood evidence at the time, which forced prosecutors to cut a deal with Raffio and cut his sentence in half. The Dell'Anno family was pushing for a sentence of 15 years, but now Raffio will spend a maximum of seven years in prison.

Nassau County's district attorney says state and Nassau police will be trained on how better to collect evidence so that cases may be prosecuted to the fullest extent.
