Manorville residents braved the rain Sunday afternoon to witness the village's first-ever Christmas parade.

Organizers Kenneth McLean and Jason Naurek said they offered to have the event on another weekend but almost everyone decided to move it forward under the wet weather.

The event initially started as a Christmas tree lighting until the Manorville Chamber of Commerce stopped holding it a few years ago. McLean and Naurek then stepped in to take over the event and got it back up and running. They serve as fire commissioners in the area.

The two men, along with their supportive spouses and community, organized the parade in just 30 days. They spent nearly $1,000 of their own money to get it moving along with help from some local sponsors.

McLean and Naurek said they plan to continue to make this combined event happen for years to come.
