Manhunt for Stop & Shop shooter sent a dozen nearby schools into lockdown, lockout

Mineola School District was one of the districts impacted by the shooting.

A police manhunt for the man wanted for shooting three people, one fatally, at a Stop & Shop in West Hempstead Tuesday prompted a dozen schools to go into lockdown or lockout.
Mineola School District was one of the districts impacted by the shooting. Students and staff had to remain in the building with no one going in or out.
One student says a lot of people were wondering what was happening.
A woman who works in nearby Garden City School District says officials wouldn't let anyone out. She says once they were dismissed everyone left at once.
Nassau police eventually took Gabriel Dewitt Wilson, 31, into custody. He was apprehended at a building on Terrace Avenue in Hempstead.
