News 12 has learned that a 76-year-old man has been hit and seriously injured by a car in Levittown.

Police tell News 12 the accident happened on Hempstead Turnpike at Emerson Avenue just after 1 p.m. Monday.

According to detectives, an 82-year-old woman was driving east when she hit the man who was walking on the side of the road.

The woman remained at the scene and the man was rushed to the hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call police.
