A Lynbrook man who nearly lost his life was able to thank the person who ultimately saved it.
Charles Dolce suffers from a genetic kidney disorder that caused his kidneys to fail.
The 47-year-old husband and father of three was told two weeks ago he needed a kidney transplant.
"We all sat down, we all discussed it, and without hesitation and without reserve, without any hesitation my sister Nicole said she would get in and get tested," he said.
His sister was a match and agreed to donate her kidney.
Nearly 10 days after the donation, the family is together and Nicole and Charles Dolce say they are recovering well.
