A man nearly drowned in Northport Bay after going overboard and hitting his head, officials say.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. yesterday near Northport Yacht Club.
The Coast Guard rushed in after calls of a man who hit his head on the boat's boom. The man was face down in the water, bleeding from the head. Officials say another person on the boat was able to grab ahold of the man until rescuers arrived.
The man is currently in stable condition.
Police say the man may have inhaled less water, if he had been wearing a life jacket.
