A day at the beach for a Suffolk man yielded something quite precious to another.
Danny McAleese stopped by Smith Point Wednesday in search of his latest treasure.
"I was sweeping the beach for about two hours and I was just about to quit and I got a really nice hit," he says.
McAleese had to go nearly a foot down to locate a tiny locket with an inscription on the back that reads "Joseph I will carry you with me until I see you again."
When he brought it home to his wife, they saw that the locket contained ashes in it, and knew they had to find its owner. They posted it to social media and it spread quickly -- it only took hours to reach Dylan Miller.
"Wow today's my birthday and that's my necklace with my brother's ashes that I lost last week -- thank you so much I didn't think anyone would ever find that," Miller posted in response.
Miller's brother Joseph was four years older than him and died two years ago. He calls him his role model.
"Dude, I can't put into words how happy I am that you're going to get your brother back," McAleese said back.
