A man was killed and a woman was injured in a stabbing in Hempstead this morning, according to Village of Hempstead police.

Investigators say it happened on Lawson Street. The woman was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, but the man's wounds were fatal.

Police say the man died in the middle of Lawson Street while the woman was able to stagger about two blocks away, where she sought help from a neighbor who called 911. She is in critical but stable condition.

Authorities say they do not yet have a motive in the stabbing incident.

The victims' identities have not yet been released. It is unclear if police have identified any suspects.
