A pedestrian was struck and killed trying to cross busy Route 110 in Melville.
The crash happened just south of Spagnoli Road at around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday night.
The driver of the Acura SUV was not injured and did remain on scene.
Officials say the male pedestrian was rushed to North Shore University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
No charges have been filed.
