Suffolk police and park rangers helped rescue a man who fell in icy water in Smithtown.
Authorities say a Brooklyn man was walking his dogs at Blydenburgh Park on Veterans Highway just before noon Saturday.
They say one of the dogs got loose and ran out onto a frozen pond.
When the man tried to retrieve the dog, he fell into chest-deep water.
Police say the man was in the water for about 25 minutes before he was rescued. He was treated for hypothermia.
