A moving truck crashed into a New Cassel home Thursday evening after the brakes failed and the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Nassau police say the truck plowed into a home on Barrington Avenue just before 5 p.m. No one was inside the house at the time of the crash, though the driver of the truck sustained non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to Nassau University Medical Center and is expected to be fine.
Firefighters, as well as the Hicksville Hazmat team, investigated the scene thoroughly, checking for damage to the foundation and structure of the home, as well as oil leaks from the tank in the basement. Officials believe the driver of the truck was sober, though they are still investigating the exact cause of the incident.
