Police say $1.8 million was stolen from a Hicksville armored company in what detectives call a brazen and sophisticated burglary.

Edgar Medina, of Brentwood, and at least two others allegedly broke into the Loomis Company in Hicksville, according to police.

Police say back on Aug. 16, the group used sophisticated tools like a scissor jack to get into the concrete and brick building. Once inside, detectives say the suspects made a hole in the vault wall and stole money bags filled with cash.

Police say there was $20 million in the building at the time, but the suspects were interrupted by an officer on patrol. Medina was later arrested with $1.8 million in the trunk of his rental car, according to detectives.

Police are asking for help to find the other suspects and are now offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
