A man tried to hold up a Holtsville liquor store Tuesday night.

The man had an imitation rifle and demanded money from an employee, police say.

The incident happened at Akshan Wine and Liquor on Waverly Avenue around 8 p.m.

Suffolk police tell News 12 the employee fought back and suffered a minor injury.

The man fled without any proceeds.
