A man has been arrested after shooting another man in the leg in Mastic Beach.

Suffolk police say that Sammie Darby got into an argument with another man at the Track Gas Station Market on 310 Neighborhood Road around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Darby, who is homeless, was asked to leave the location and continued arguing with the victim before shooting him in the leg, according to police.

The 29-year-old was transported to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say Darby was arrested shortly after. The 48-year-old is charged with assault and will be held overnight for arraignment at the First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.
