A man was arrested at for selling restricted products in Nassau County.
Assem Mohamed, 33, of Brooklyn, was working at Convenience and Smoke Shop in East Meadow when the Nassau Police Strategic Response Team entered the store.
During the investigation, officers observed a large quantity of kratom and flavored vape products displayed for sale.
Mohamed was issued a desk appearance ticket to be arraigned in April.
The supplement is sold as a pain reliever that has opioid-like effects.
“Kratom is marketed as safe, but federal health agencies have repeatedly warned otherwise,” stated Legislator Arnold Drucker.
