A Manhattan man is facing charges for allegedly injuring two officers during a traffic stop in Manhasset on Thursday.
Diosmede Rodriguez Flores, 24, was a passenger in a 2007 Ford Expedition and became combative after officers found a white substance believed to be cocaine in the car and tried to arrest him during the traffic stop, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
The Ford was traveling westbound on Northern Boulevard in Manhasset and the driver failed to maintain their lane, leading to police pulling the car over just before 5 p.m. Thursday, police say. When attempting to place Rodriguez Flores into custody, he became violent and injured both officers.
Rodriguez Flores is charged with two counts of assault, resisting arrest and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The officers were transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of their injuries.
