The man accused of killing a 12-year-old Hempstead girl while she ate dinner appeared back in court Friday.
Prosecutors say a grand jury has indicted Jakwan Keller on at least one felony charge in connection with the shooting.
As previously reported, Dejah Joyner was shot in October while eating dinner inside her home. Police say Keller is a member of the Bloods gang, and fired the shot in retaliation after his brother was robbed of a hoverboard. They say Joyner was not the intended target.
In court Friday, Keller's attorney said that his client is wrongfully accused.
A police spokesperson told News 12 that there is enough evidence to substantiate Keller's arrest.
Keller's next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 2.
