Police have arrested a Bellport man who was allegedly on drugs while he was driving with his two young sons in the back seat.
Police say Kevin Nichols, of Bellport, is charged with felony DWI under Leandra's Law.
Nichols was arrested after losing control of his SUV and crashing on Nicolls Road in Holtsville at around 6 p.m. Wednesday. The SUV, which was towing a small trailer full of household items, ended up overturning.
Police told News 12 that Nichols admitted to taking Percocet Wednesday morning.
The 1- and 2-year-old boys in the car, as well as an adult passenger, were taken to the hospital. The passenger has been admitted, but the children were not injured.
Nichols was released from the hospital and is in police custody. He will be arraigned Friday morning on the Leandra's Law charges, as well as charges of endangering the welfare of a child.
The children were released from the hospital to a family member.
