A man and his two children were killed in a two-car crash on the Southern State Parkway in Bay Shore early Sunday morning, state police have confirmed.
The crash happened near Exit 41 at around 1:30 a.m. The roadway was closed for hours as police investigated.
Police say a BMW rear-ended a Toyota vehicle, and the Toyota burst into flames. The man and the two children were trapped in the fiery car, and were pronounced dead. They have been identified as 37-year-old Ancio Ostane, 8-year-old Andy Ostane, and 4-year-old Sephora Ostane, of St. Albans, Queens.
The man's wife was able to escape the vehicle. Lucnie Bouaz-Ostane was hospitalized to be treated for minor injuries.
The driver of the BMW was allegedly intoxicated and left the scene of the accident. Oniel Sharpe Jr., of Springfield Gardens, Queens, was subsequently arrested. He is being charged with DWI and leaving the scene of an accident.
