It's Monday. So that means we're heading to another community and showing off some local businesses that make it so special. And this morning we're in Freeport News self, Jen Sling is at Atlantic Hardware right now. Good morning, Jen. Hey, good morning Rich. Yeah, this place has every single type of tool that you can imagine. The shelves are stocked and I bet they're super busy during a snowstorm or a rainstorm with me. I have Kate. You are the co-owner, you own the business with your sister, Dawn and this, this business is super crucial here in Freeport. Oh, yeah. We've been in business for 70 years. Um, everyone here is like family to us. We always make sure we're open for everyone that needs us during those snowstorms, during those hurricanes and whatnot and, and talk about dedication. She told me that you sleep here sometimes when we have a massive storm as embarrassing enough as it is. Yes. If we need to be here, we have to, we have to be open for everybody. You need your shovels, you need your ice melt, you need pumps. We're here, the pumps crucial here. Unfortunately. Um Grandpa started the business. So this place is extra special. Yeah. No. Uh my grandpa and my grandma started it and then my dad took over. My dad passed away three years ago and it's really important for us to keep it going for him. And I love how you mentioned. This is a tight knit community. This is Dan. Dan is one of your employees. And Dan, you were coming here with your dad shopping as a kid and now you work here. Yeah. So my family's been coming here for generations and once I saw there was a help wanted sign on the door, they welcomed me in and it's like I family here now as well. What's the best part about Freeport? Probably serving our community. Everybody's so close here. Everybody knows each other. It's like a family here. Yeah. Nothing that beats it. No, 100% like all these customers that have been coming in have been coming in since I was a kid. So it's like I grew up with them and they all know my whole life. Uh It's just nice. It's just, it feels like family here. Oh, I love that shop local too is very important. I feel like work anymore because you're just here all the time with people that you see every day. And it's just like I said, like friends and family. OK. Thank you, Dan. Thank you. We're gonna stick around here and Freeport and check out some other local businesses, some old businesses, some newer businesses on the block. So you're gonna want to say it's tuned for that.

A start to a new week. That means we're heading to another community to highlight some local businesses. And this week we're in Freeport. New self, Jen Selig is at no rush cafe, grabbing a cup of coffee to start her day. Sounds like a nice start to the week, Jen. Oh, absolutely Rich. And I am really in no rush to leave this place. It's so beautiful in here. We even got some local officials with us, the mayor behind me. Mayor. How's your coffee? Good morning. It's delicious. The best coffee on all of Long Island. I love that again. They just opened up their doors not even a year ago back in December. And this is the beautiful couple that owns this coffee shop and they brought the little baby into opening up so early. What's the best part about having such a unique coffee shop right here in Freeport? Well, I love serving the community and having it so close to home has been really, really great. Um I love being with the people and seeing their happy faces in the morning. And yeah, and when people order coffee because I'm only imagining you guys have a lot of returning customers. What do they say about your product? Uh, I mean, the reviews on Google and Yelp kind of speak for themselves. But, uh, people love it. People love the fact that we're, you know, hand crafting every single drink. It's not done by some fancy machines. And, uh, people are absolutely, you know, thrilled with what we give them and they keep coming back. So we're doing something. Right. Yeah. So, having a coffee shop right here in Freeport, it's pretty cool because you guys open up early, you opened up when we got here. So we open up nice and early. So we get the morning crew and, uh, people heading out to work and, uh, they come in and they get a feeling of tranquility when they come to no rush. So that's the whole premise behind why we opened up the coffee shop was to give people a break and it's not just coffee. They have pastries here and, and, and meals. Right. Yeah, we have pastries. We have a bunch of small bites, chicken and waffles, things like that. Um, anything you want to have a relaxing break from life sometimes, you know, that's, that's what we offer. I think we're all in for that. Right. All right. We're gonna check out some more local businesses again, newer businesses, older businesses and stay right here in Freeport. It is Monday, so that means we're heading to another community and showing off some local businesses that make it so special. And this morning we're in Freeport. News' Jen Selig is at Jeremy's Alehouse now. Hi Jen. Hey Richard, we got Dan, my photographer behind the bar. We got a packed bar here even this morning, and I'm with the man himself, Jeremy. Jeremy, you've had this business for 21 years. The community has been treating you so well since then. I love the community. I actually, I love it so much. I moved here about 5-6 years ago. I live about 6 blocks away. And I know a lot of times when we come to the mile we're talking about flooding and I know you've had your share and the floods here, but that doesn't stop folks from coming in and ordering a drink. That's why they have to put their feet up on the bar because they have to that way they don't get their feet wet and they can't leave until the water goes down. This way we have a captive audience. We wouldn't have it any other way. And you know these people first name, last name, middle name, their occupation, a little bit of everything when they come in. Wow. They try to keep a little secret sometimes. You have another location in Manhattan, but Freeport special. I know you mentioned you live like you said, like you could probably walk there if you wanted to walk, but yes, it's, uh, I only live like 810 blocks away and I chose to come here because I just love Freeport after we opened here. I didn't want to be anywhere else. Open 7 days a week, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and I know summertime is busy right here on the busy in the winter time you can go swimming in here. What's the best part about the overall community? It's the camaraderie. Everybody in this community, it's not like, uh, everybody either knows each other if you walk by, if I go outside, someone's gonna be there as soon as they walk by they're gonna wave, say hello. That's going to happen in Manhattan. When I lived there, I didn't know the guy that lived in the apartment next door to me, and now I know everybody and people all over Long Island come to the miles, so I'm sure people from far and near enjoy your dishes, and I heard you have really good fish here. Oh yeah, well, our fish is the best fresh. Everything we do is fresh. Everything is made to order. Nothing is premade and then heated up. And I think that's really the success tour thing, that this food is just fresh. I got to come back here when I'm not working and try some of your food. Let me know when you're coming. We'll have a cocktail together. We're going to enjoy ourselves here and send it back.
