Macy's is expected to furlough the majority of its employees because of coronavirus pandemic.
The company says the temporary layoffs will get underway this week, affecting more than half of its 125,000 workers.
Macy's says it plans to gradually re-hire them when business returns to normal.
The furloughed workers will be covered with the company's health care through at least May.
