The Mega Millions jackpot jumped to $521 million ahead of Friday night’s drawing.
That’s the fourth-largest Mega Millions jackpot in history.
Lotto players and potential future millionaires told News 12 about their big-ticket dream items they’d purchase after winning – like houses and cars. But financial planner Jon Ten Haagen advises that winner come up with a strategy before going on a spending spree.
"If you win a big lottery, don't tell anyone. Don't tell your spouse. No one. Get a good attorney that has done this before,” he says. “Don't sign the ticket. Put it in a safe deposit box. Create a trust that's aimed for you.”
