Long Island?s unemployment rate dropped slightly from June to July according to the latest numbers, something many economists say they weren?t expecting.
The rate dipped from 7.5 percent to 7.4, but Gary Huth, of the New York State Department of Labor, says it?s a sign the economy is turning around.
"Most economists had thought that the unemployment rate would actually continue to rise even after the economy turned around,? Huth says. But, ?there's pretty much a consensus that the worst is over."
Experts say there's been an increase in jobs for business professionals, at temp agencies and even construction.
