A night of recognition was held Tuesday in Westhampton for a World War II vet and retired FDNY captain.
Chester Moscicki, 99, received an official ribbon for his service from the U.S. Air Force and FDNY Fire Officers Association.
After flying more than 35 missions, Moscicki joined the FDNY in 1945.
Moscicki was also named Firefighter of the Month in 1960 by the New York Journal-American.
Long Island's oldest FDNY firefighter says he was blown away by the support.
"I thought it would be a smaller size, I never expected all these people," he says.
