As the bitter cold forced many Long Islanders indoors Sunday, advocates say the homeless feel they have no where to go.
Nassau County's Warm Bed program picks up people in need of shelter. The Interfaith Nutrition Network also provides beds, hot meals and works to permanently place people in housing.
Experts say train stations and parks are no place to sleep when the mercury dips in the low 20s and below. They warn the cold snap is uncomfortable at best and deadly at worst.
