Long Islanders are spending the weekend prepping for whatever the impending winter storm may bring.
Shopping carts were filled to the brim outside Stop and Shop in Hicksville as shoppers grabbed everything they may need to weather the storm.
At Trio Hardware in Plainview, owner Todd Kirschner stocked shelves with ice melt, shovels, and a few sleds for the kids.
"The past few years we haven't had much snow, so a lot of people haven't had this stuff sitting around their houses, either. So a lot of people are going out to get it now that they need it," Kirschner says.
Trio Hardware store had a few people already lined up when they first opened Saturday morning.
Kirschner says they still have plenty of items in stock. They did, however, run out of snowblowers this morning.
There was also a rush of cars at the gas station on Newbridge Road to fill up gas tanks and buy fuel for generators.
