Long Islanders turned out in droves Tuesday to attend opening day shows of Oliver Stone?s 9/11 epic "World Trade Center."
Many theaters reported sellout crowds as moviegoers packed the seats to relive the heartbreak and heroism surrounding the terrorist attacks. "World Trade Center" retells the story of two Port Authority police officers who helped people escape the Twin Towers. The film also describes the rescue attempt after the two officers became trapped in rubble.
Most of those exiting the theater gave the movie favorable reviews. They say it is a powerful and moving film that will inspire patriotism. Officials remind those who may see the movie that 10 percent of all profits the first five days of the film?s release will be donated to four New York-based charities that honor those lost on September 11th.
