"I'd rather shop online than shop in a store with thousands of people elbowing me," said Hofstra senior Mike Franzone. "I can't stand that."
Nassau Community College marketing professor Jack Mandel maintains Cyber Monday is a lot of hype, but admits good deals do exist. Many online retailers offered free shipping and large one-time discounts.
Still, he advises it's buyer beware. "You have to know who you are dealing with," Mandel said. "I tell lots of clients and students that you should check with the Better Business Bureau ? to see if there are any problems with a company you have not heard of."
