Two of the four suspects busted in a $25,000 illegal prescription drug scam faced a judge in Hempstead Wednesday.
Cops say the scam, which involved copying or reproducing legitimate prescriptions, went on for three years. Prosecutors say David Shahda, of Setauket, did most of the copying. Mother and son Lsetraut and John Troll, of Huntington, are accused of filling more than 100 prescriptions. The fourth suspect, Huntington resident James Kelly, was allegedly just in it for the pills. Police say the drug of choice was Vicodin.
Shahda and Kelly are each charged with 10 counts of possession of forged instruments. The Trolls were previously arraigned. Lsetraut is charged with 11 counts of possession of forged instruments. John is facing eight counts of forgery.
