Long Island is now reporting the highest number of COVID-19 cases among students for any region in the state this school year.

Long Island school districts see spike in COVID-19 cases
COVID-19 cases are spiking in classrooms across Long Island.
Long Island is now reporting the highest number of COVID cases among students for any region in the state this school year.
One of the districts that has one of the most COVID-19 cases on Long Island is the Commack School District, specifically Commack High School. News 12 has learned that over 881 cases have been reported in the district since school began in September.
Since winter break, at the high school, a total of 74 cases of kids testing positive have been reported.
Long Island comes in first in the state for the most amount of cases since September at 34,620. Behind Long Island is New York City which stands at 27,707 cases since September.
