Long Island residents hit the road Wednesday for Thanksgiving getaways.
News 12’s Caroline Flynn spoke to some travelers about their experience with traffic.
“Just endure it. It's going to be a long ride!" said one resident.
"So far it's not too bad. Yesterday was pretty horrible, but that's New York for you,” said another traveler.
“Thankfully, my family is all close. We try not to go out. I don't like traffic. It's just too much," said Emily Flay, of Hicksville.
AAA recommends travelers get on the road before 11 a.m. or after 8 p.m.
AAA also advises to avoid driving Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. due to increased traffic.
