With the temperatures in the 80s or higher across Long Island today, the beach was one of the coolest places to be to beat the heat.
Many in Long Beach soaked in the sun after some recent temperature dips.
"It was cold last week...40 degrees in the morning. Now, it's a beautiful day. You can't ask for anything better, " said Floral Park resident Clayton Prewitt.
These warm temperatures also have many Long Islanders testing out air conditioners for the first time. PSEG Long Island says its ready for the higher demand but recommends people still conserve energy when possible.
Officials across Long Island and on Long Beach say lifeguards are not on duty yet, so swimming is not allowed right now.
