Long Island native Dan Lauria performs Christmas classic, 'A Christmas Story,' on Broadway

On a Christmas classic's 30 anniversary, Long Island native and actor Dan Lauria is bringing it to life on Broadway. News 12's Elisa DiStefano had a chance to join Lauria, best known for his role in "The Wonder Years," backstage in New York City.

Lauria, of Lindenhurst, plays the narrator in "A Christmas Story: The Musical." He says the Broadway show stays very true to the film.

"We are very loyal to the script," Lauria says. "In the movie, wherever Ralphie has a fantasy, that's a production number."

Even with the show's vigorous production schedule, Lauria says he will be home for Christmas to pick up his 90-year-old aunt.

"A Christmas Story: The Musical" is at the Theater at Madison Square Garden with shows through Dec. 29.
