Around 150 Mustang owners from Long Island took a drive Sunday to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks.

Members of the group "Strong Island Stangs" rode from Eisenhower Park to the 9/11 memorial at Point Lookout.

They say they also wanted to honor the founder of the group and NYPD Officer Mike Geraldi, who suddenly died from a brain aneurysm while at work two weeks ago.

Geraldi's family says he started the group out of his love and passion for Mustangs.

His brother-in-law Joe DiMaggio says, "This is a special moment, because Mikey showed a lot of love to community and car culture, he brought thousands of people together."

Organizers say they will continue to keep Geraldi's memory alive while being the driving force behind this special group of mustang owners.

"Mike Geraldi was a person who brought everyone together and his legacy will go on, he was a giving person and welcome with open arms. You met him once and you felt like you knew him your whole life," says organizer Greg Stavroulakis.

Geraldi left behind a wife and two children. A fundraiser for the family has been posted online.
