Farmers on Long Island say that they are concerned about looming SNAP cuts in the federal budget bill.
Amber Waves Farm in Amagansett believes everyone should have access to healthy food choices.
It's why they donated 25,00 pounds of fresh produce to local food pantries last year. Also, like many farmers' markets on Long Island, they accept SNAP benefits at their location.
But with SNAP benefits in danger of being cut in the proposed federal budget bill, the farm's co-founders warn about further stress being put on food pantries and the local farms that supply them.
Island Harvest says cuts to SNAP would be "devastating."
The budget bill has already passed the U.S. House of Representatives and is now being discussed by the U.S. Senate.
