The Long Island Expressway has reopened after a tanker fire closed part of the expressway in Melville for hours Tuesday night.
Police say the truck was carrying 12,000 gallons of fuel when the driver noticed a mechanical issue at around 8:30 p.m.
He managed to pull over and get out on the westbound side at Exit 50.
No one was hurt in the incident.
