A Long Beach woman was ejected from a moving SUV Monday, and police later arrested her boyfriend for leaving the scene.
Investigators said Daniel Scorica was driving south on Lincoln Boulevard when his girlfriend, Yesenia Arano, fell out of his moving Nissan Pathfinder.
"She's being treated for head trauma and both her feet have been broken as a result of the accident," Long Beach Police Lt. Bruce Meyer said.
Meyer said police are unsure whether Arano was pushed out of the vehicle or if she fell on her own. He said Scorica picked up Arano's unconscious body, placed her in the back seat and drove to their Shore Road apartment, rather than the hospital.
Arano, who was found after witnesses of the accident called 911, is being treated at South Nassau Hospital.
Police charged Scorica with leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with evidence. More charges have not been ruled out, police said. Scorica has been released on $100,000 bond.
