Members of a Long Beach synagogue called for renewed hope and strength a week after two torahs were stolen.
Rabbis and community members paraded the remaining torahs into the newly restored and secured ark.
As News 12 reported last week, the Chabad of the Beaches was broken into. Members said two torahs were stolen and the ark was vandalized.
Volunteers have spent the last week searching for the stolen torahs with no success.
Chabad of the Beaches Rabbi Eli Goodman said it was important for them to show resilience after an act of vandalism.
"Bringing the Torah's in a parade-like procession I think it’s an important message for everybody that when there’s darkness, we need more light and that's our role here today," Goodman said.
People at Monday night's event said the presentation is extremely meaningful as they head into the High Holy days.
