Officials say the last hospital that is still closed because of Sandy is struggling to reopen.

The Long Beach Medical Center has dealt with a series of unexpected delays since the storm.

The hospital needs a new fire sprinkler system because salt water damaged pipes in the basement. Also, the fire alarm system still needs an overhaul.

The hospital was originally scheduled to open mid-April.

Emergency patients are still being sent to hospitals in Oceanside and East Meadow.
