A Long Beach man is lucky to be alive Saturday after falling roughly 35 feet down an airshaft.Fire officials say Mark Saladino, 32, fell down the airshaft when he and another man decided to take a walk on the roof of a building where they were attending a party. Huntington fire officials say the airshaft had been sealed off so they had to break through a door and a wall to rescue Saladino. Huntington Fire Chief Fred Uvina says Saladino was lucky that someone else was with him and able to call for help.
Saladino is listed in stable condition at Stony Brook University Hospital.
